Presentamos un anteproyecto para una rotonda de 100 metros de diámetro, capaz de ordenar con su dimensión el entorno cercano con sus futuras dispares edificaciones, y el paisaje lejano. La clave está en conseguir una escala perceptiva adecuada que creemos debe surgir de la conjunción de una correcta operación topográfica con una atractiva imagen poética, definiéndose desde sutiles relaciones de densidad con el paisaje.

Sobre el borde de la excavación se elevan dos láminas de estructura ligera de acero lacado en blanco y vidrios mateados, una hacia el interior y otra hacia el exterior que, como alas de libélula, permanecen ingrávidas sobre la loma. La superficie de estas láminas, generadas a partir de sectores de esfera, estaría recubierta con células fotovoltaicas que captarían la energía suficiente para su autoabastecimiento. Durante el día, la potencia del gran círculo negro con el disco blanco inserto en él bastaría para ordenar el entorno. Las alas cristalinas emergerían traslúcidas en el paisaje y su geometría permitiría crear una secuencia cambiante de poéticas imágenes a medida que la rodeamos en coche. Durante la noche, el disco en negativo se proyectará como el reflejo de una gran luna envuelta en los elegantes velos que crearán las alas de libélula iluminadas. En ciertas ocasiones, regulando adecuadamente el tráfico, la rotonda podría servir para usos lúdicos o deportivos: juegos, exhibiciones, conciertos, etc. que enriquecerían su utilidad.

En definitiva, proponemos una rotonda diferente y original, respetuosa con la escala del paisaje, potente en su imagen y, sobre todo, adecuada a la necesidad actual de aprovechar las energías renovables.

We present a preliminary project for a 100 meters of diameter roundabout, capable of ordering with its dimension the nearby environment with its future disparate buildings and the distant landscape. The key would be to achieve an adequate perceptual scale that should arise from the proper conjunction of a correct topographic operation with an attractive poetic image, defined from subtle relations of density with the landscape.

On the edge of the excavation are raised two sheets of a light white lacquered steel structure and matted glass, one facing inwards and the other outwards.They, like dragonfly wings, would remain weightless on the hill. These sheets’ surface, generated from sphere sectors, would be covered with photovoltaic cells that would capture enough solar energy for self-sufficiency. During the day, the power of the great black circle with the white disk inserted in it, would be enough to order the surroundings. The crystalline wings would emerge translucent in the landscape and its geometry would allow to create a changing sequence of poetic images as we surround it by car. During the night, the negative disc would be projected as the reflection of a large moon wrapped in the elegant veils that create the illuminated dragonfly wings. On some occasions, while properly regulating the traffic, the roundabout could be as well used for alternative purposes: games, exhibitions, concerts, etc. which would enrich its utility.

In essence, what we propose is a different and original roundabout, respectful with the scale of the landscape, powerful in its image and, above all, adequate to the current demand of taking advantage of the renewable energies possibilities.
